THERE ARE MANY TO THANK
What a
great community effort. Mentor
High School
and their various booster organizations really came together for
us. I can't say enough about Pam Leber Trivisonno as the
liaison between our dream and the school.
Tony Caito played a huge part in the planning and with
setting up many of the facilities that were used. Tony Gildone
kept us focused, reminding us to keep it simple and I think that
played a huge role in the success of making us all feel 17yrs old
again, if just for 48 hours. Fastsigns of
Mentor gets the MVP nod for the area businesses. Fastsigns
donated a pair of 4'x10' Banners and multiple other yard signs
helping direct everyone where to go. They never said no, to any
request and went above and beyond in supporting the event. Joe
Longo was another business owner which rolled with all the many
changes to the venues and worked with us along the way. Thanks to
Longo's for providing lunch for our crew during the Gift Bag
Stuffing party and the many appetizers that were put out at Longo's
on Mentor Avenue after the game on
Friday. Karen Blankschaen lended her expertise with the
concessions and various other school and
community entities. Karen was always there to roll up her shirt
sleeves and help. Amy Winslow Shea & Raquel Maehler Nelson
went to work on their classes and promoting the event. Kelly
Kuczynski set-up all the deals we secured with area hotels, was
instrumental in working with Fastsigns, promoting the event and
adding a special touch to Saturday. Romy Barden, Jeff Lancaster
& Chuck Carter pitched-in where they could. You can say that
this was Chuck's dream, as he was the engine that prompted myself to
get things rolling back in April. Hat's off to Cabana's &
Deekers for trusting in us that this was going to be a big event
and staffing up to prepare for us, not just one night, but two.
Chris Giliardi Weber for an outstanding job at the head of the
check-in table. Chris also chimed in from a perspective of the
Mentor Chamber of Commerce & the Alumni
Association, she was assisted Friday night at the check-in table by
Leslie Miller Kolschetszy, Rhonda Battig & Tori
Trivisonno. We'd also like to Thank MHS's Athletic Director
Jeff Cassella and Jane Duncan and Cathy Zeller of
Cardinal Parents Club. Barb Monacelli, President of Music
Mentors for providing the Mentoropoly games & working with us on the
50/50 raffle. Sandy Lutz the Athletic Departments secretary
and Spirit Club Advisor. Justin Maynor who is
Mentor Public Schools Community
Relations Coordinator also hung with us through every curve and
roadblock along the way. Dominic and his crew for setting up the
stadium for us. The Mentor Redline
Club for allowing us use of the Alumni Area Tent. Big Special
Thanks to Steve McGowan of SJM Graphics for the creation of
all logo's and designs used for the web site, scoreboard images,
t-shirts, banners and coozies. Another business that put out
an outstanding effort and product was Luna Marketing of
Berea, headed up by Gene Zacharyasz. Gene's crew printed 420
T-shirts, 300 can Coozies, 300 Gift bags, 100 mini-footballs and 100
pom-poms, all delivered on-time and well done. Createns
provided the web site. Facebook, for a wonderful platform for
us all to meet and plan on. Kudo's to all the area businesses who
provided for the Gift bags; John Q's, Deekers,
Cabana's, Gallery of Fondue, Chick-fil-A,
Sherwin Williams, Avid Construction, Longo's Pizza,
and Lake Health TriPoint Medical. Advertisers Q104 for having
us in for Festive Friday to promote the event and the New Herald for
the print ad. Congrats to Head Coach Steve Trivisonno for
securing his 100th win in front of the
Reunion crowd.
I
myself have received enough pats on the back over the weekend, when
the truth is, the above people and organizations made it all
possible. I want to truly thank them all for their contributions and
energy, and none of it would have worked had not so many alumni came
in from all over the country (and Canada!). It was a great group
effort and a heck of a lot of fun. See you all again soon, I hope.
